Awarded for service during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars 1793-1814. In particular, the 12LD were awarded the Egypt clasp for service during the Egyptian Campaign of 1801 and clasps for the battles of Salamanca and Vittoria and the crossings of the Rivers Nive and Nivelle during the Peninsula Campaign.
