2 DAVID CAMPBELL Won the Grand National on " THE SOARER " , when he was a subaltern in the Regiment . He took the Regiment to France , in 1914 . He wished , he said , to win the National " as a Commanding Officer . But he rode the King's horse in the Grand Military ( 1911 ) , and , after that , I think he admitted that things were not so easy when one gets a bit older " . " " David had the unique record of winning the Grand National , the Grand Military and the Inter - Regimental Polo Tournament in the same year . |
