10 FRANK CROSSLEY ( SOMERLEYTON ) In this picture he is not riding " General Nogi " . Frank bought " Nogi ' for £ 35 from between the shafts of a cab in Cambridge . I think that he won three Point - to Points on this horse , and four steeplechases during the first year that he rode him . He might have won the Regimental Point - to - Point had not Rex Benson knocked him over three fences from home , at Smeeth . Rex's horse " Corkscrew " , made a point of jumping sideways , and did the same thing by knocking over the Commanding Officer ( David Campbell ) on another date .
