9 ° QUEENS ROYAL DETMOLD La ANCERS PLAYING CARDS 1968. REGIMENTAL BADGE SERGEANTS MESS 1958 AND Colours ( SATS MESS ) AIM 1 . 2 . twofold : The Regimental Museum was started in October 1953 and its aim was Besides LANCERS COMPOSITION Octubr REGIMENTAL MUSEUM ( a ) To house in a suitable place all the historical records , diaries and interesting uniforms and accoutrements which relate or belong to the Regiment ; les Reginent is always resol ( b ) To found a place where all 9 Lancers , whether past or present , may find visible evidence of the Regiment's past . The Museum is divided into six Sections , each section relating to a period of history . ( a ) 1715-1910 of The first section deals mainly with the Indian Mutiny and Boer War and includes General Bushman's diary relating to the Mutiny and the Regimental diary of the Boer War . ( b ) 1910 1939 The second section deals with the 1st Great War 1914-1918 and the period of mechanization 1935 1939 and consists mainly of the War diaries of the Great War and the orders relating to mechanization . ( c ) 1939 - 1945 The third section deals entirely with the 2nd World War and consists of the War diaries and extracts from campaigns relating to the World War . ( a ) 1945-1955 The fourth section deals with the Campaign in Palestine 1947 - 48 , the period at Glencorse , Scotland 1948-50 and the present period in DETMOLD , GERMANY 1950. This section consists mainly of the diaries relating to PALESTINE and the present day diary . ( e ) Scrap , Photograph Section The fifth section consists of Scrap and Photograph Books , which have been compiled from 1715 - 1955 . ( f ) Uniforms and Accoutrements The final section consists of uniforms and accoutrements worn by 9 Lancers officers , including General Beale Brown's full dress uniform , during the past century . Around the walls are hung pictures relating to the various Sections . |
