THE successful revival of the Gujarat Cup pig - sticking meeting , which is illustrated on page 41 , was the result of indefatigable efforts on the part of Mr. A. Kirke Smith , the Joint Honorary Secretaries , Mr. F. H. French , and in particular Major C. H. E. Wilson , of Kharaghoda , The latter made himself en for tirely responsible for housing , catering and providing the shikar for the whole meet ing . arrangements The excellency of the may be judged by the results : 21 pig were killed in 3 days , and on no occasion was there the slightest delay in running off heats on account of lack of pig . The magnitude of Major Wilson's task in this latter connec tion will better be understood when it is realised that the pig are in no way preserved and cover far too wide an area to be beaten , and must therefore be pugged and marked down either singly or in sounders , and kept carefully watched until the heats arrive . THIS year the meeting was supported amongst others by such keen Indian sportsmen as Colonel Sirdar Singh , of the Bhavnagar State Lancers , and the Thakore Sahib of Katosan and members of his family , and their participation was a very gratifying feature of the meeting . Many were the congratulations tendered to Lieut .
