Captain Simon Ralph Fane - Spicer , 12th Lan cers , son of Captain and Lady Margaret Spicer , of Spye Park , Chippenham , Wilts , was married yesterday morning at Holy Trinity , Brompton , by the Rev. Prebendary W. A. Gough , viear of the parish , to Mary , only daughter of Lient. Colonel and Mrs. C. L. Graham , of Castle Size , Sallins , co . Kildare , and granddaughter of the late Mr. O. B. Graham , of Larchfield , Lisburn , co . Down . At either side of the entrance to the chancel was a tall palm tree , the stems banked up with white , blue , and mauve hydrangeas and pink rambler roses . vere white lilies the altar . A The bride , who was given away by her father , wore a simple , gracefully - draped gown of white satin woven with pale gold . A train of similar material draped with fine old tambour lace was slung from beneath a trail of leaves caught on each shoulder by a cluster of orange blossoms . A large trefoil of diamanté embroidery caught the skirt panels together below the waistline , and a sillen net veil was worn from a tiara - shaped headdress of myrtle ard orange blossom . bouquet of spikes of raro orchids tied with gold gauze was carried . Two bridesmaids were in attendance , Miss Aubrey O'Brien and Miss Cynthia Hartopp . Their very pretty dresses were of cream - coloured filmy lace , having girdles of deep coral - red enamel , from which fell at one side long ends of shaded ribbon from cream - colour to deep red . They wore tulle headdresses with wreaths of lisse leaves shaded like the sashes , outlined in silver , at the back of their coiffures , and they carried bouquets of deep soft red gladioli . Captam Anthony Spicer acted as best man to his brother . The choristers filed into their stalls to either side of Prebendary Gough , who stood in the centre of the entrance of the chancel . The hymns chosen were Lead us , Heavenly Father , " " O Perfect Love , " and " O God , our help in ages past . " While the register was being signed an anthem was sung , and as the bridal procession passed down the church the organist played Mendelssohn's Wedding March . Mrs. C. L. Graham were a dress of golden brown lace over silk the same colour and a hat of a similar shade of brown straw trimmed with lace and deep yellow flowers . Lady Margaret Spicer was in deep orchid - mauve marocain , and her wide brimmed chiffon and tulle hat of the same tone was finished with velvet and silk - petalled flowers The Dowager Duchess of Abercorn wore a silver grey crêpe de Chine dress and a black and silve hat . The Marchioness of Lansdowne , who was accompanied by the Marquis , was in dove - grey satin and chiffon , and wore a hat of chiffon and shaded dove - grey ostrich feathers . The Countess of Londesborough was dressed in pale orchid . mauve and wore a picture hat to match . As the bride and bridegroom passed out of the Church little Miss Cameron strewed rose petals before them . A reception was held after the wed ding at 14 , Lennox - gardens , lent by Sir John and Lady Paget . Later Captain and Mrs. Ralph Spicer left for the New Forest , the latter wearing a gown of beige - coloured crâne roumain |
