The following is a very short and condensed scount of the British advance to SI DI BARRANI and the events wich followed .
" Early on the moming of 9 Dec , the enemy camp a NIBEIWA , some 15 miles South of BARRANI was captured fllowing a surprise attack from the NW and least defended side b infantry tanks and infantry .
TUMHAR WEST about 5 miles North was then abacked and fell at 1430 hrs , followed by TUNNAR EAST , a ittle to the East , at 1700 hrs . Our forecs remained in obarvation at Pt 90 , another camp , to the East of TUMMAR EAST . At the same time as the attack on NIBEIWA went
i armoured forces went through the gap between NIBEIWA and RIA and reached the coast to the west of BARRALI at 1500 hrs ater quelling opposition on the way . The camps which were
th objective , and in which tanks were thought to be , were fend to be empty , but the Italians were holding a line along th South of the BuQ BUQ track .
Meanwhile , no movement was made by the enemy in
RAIA and SOFAFI ,
The next day , 10 Dec , our forces pushed on to SI BAHRANI , leaving Pt 90 under observation . The enemy we re holing a semi - circular position round the village . fiting took place here , and BARRA NI fell at 1700 hrs .

In the coastal area West of BARRANI , our armoured foes advanced towards BUQBUQ , with patrols 10 miles West of it and tank forces were despatched to assist and strengthen thinfantry attacking BARRA NI .
During the previous night the garrison of MAILA , to the East of BARRANI , had departed owing to naval and albombardment , and our troops entered the camp on 10 Dec. Qne en position just to the East of BARRANI held on until 0950 hrs on Dec despite our entering the village to their rear at 17hrs on 10 Dec.
Pt 90 camp , which held a certain number of troops fro BARRANI and UAKTILA finally fell1 at 1200 hrs on 12 Dec ,
In the BUQBUQ area mopping - up was continuing , anda the afternoon the country between BARRANI and BUQBUQ was cle . An enemy position in the sand dunes just West of the BUQh cross - tracks was attacked and taken in the evening of 11 c .
During the previous night , and early the same morg , the garrisons of RABIA and SOFAFI had evacuated their camp and these were occupied by us . alor the edge of the escarpment via HALFWAY HOUSE , HALFAYA and The garrisons withdrew SALU delaying positions being made at SIDI SULEIMAN , SIDI OMAR and at South of HALFA YA .
Our forces pushed on along the escarpment and contuad to drive the enemy Westwards . SIDI OMAR hold out aftethe remaining delaying camps had been evacuated , and was stilin position when our troops had crossed the wire and were in pition on the BARDIA TOBRUK road outting all communications The attack on SIDI OMAR went in at 1700 hrs on 16 D and 19 minutes later the garrison surrendered . Meanwhile our fantry had cleared up the SALUM MUSAID - RAMLA triangle , and 11000 hrs on 16 Dec , no Italians were left on Egyptian soll exceffor dead , wounded and prisoners .
