I hear that the 5th Royal Irish Lancers , now quartered at Aldershot , emulating the example of their brothers - in - arms and good - fellowship , the 9th of blessed memory , ' are about to open a circus on Easter Monday . The performances will last for a fortnight , and will be conducted entirely by the officers and men of the regiment , and the proceeds will be devoted to a regi mental charity . The 5th , who are fortunate in the same riding - master as were the 9th , train their own horses , provide their own clowns , their own master of the ring , and in all respects their own staff , as did that regiment . The entertainment should be a very good and a very amusing one , and one well calculated to promote that spirit of bonne camaraderie which is so vital a principle in the well - being of a regiment .
