Horses . 3 Officers and 120 other ranks , Royal Bucks Hussars , will be attached to the 11th Rererve Cavalry Regiment , from tomorrow 8.2.17 , and will leave barracks about 2.30.pm , parading on the Darrack Square at . 2. pm .. Taylor Whitehead , 9th Lancers , has been wounded . ( Swaine . ) Lord Lovelace , a former 9th Lancer , who has been serving again with a Service battalion , has recently been selected for the Staff . The third Earl , he succeeded his half - brother ( Byron's grandson ) eleven years ago , but is not much known at Westminster , his tastes being more in the direction of sport than of politics . Lord Lichfield's Lord Lovelace married youngest sister , and the pair have mostly divided their time between Ben Damph Forest , a beautiful place on the shores of Loch Torri don , in Ross - shire , bought some years ago by the first Lord Lovelace , and Horsley Towers , Leatherhead . Hooper , D.S.O. on the Barrack Square at 12.15.pm. On arriving at Holyhead , Captain J.S. rorbes and his Squadron together with 14 horses and baggage will leave by the first bost , the remainder of the party will proceed with the second boat . Horses to be at the station for entraining at 12.15.pm , the Farrier Quarter Master Sergt will superintend the entraining of these animals . Railway trucks in barracks for baggage will leave at 10.30am all baggage must be loaded by 10.15.am. On departure of the Regiment all details including Berks Yeo : and Works Battn will parade on the Barrack Square at 2.30.pm. All Officers will attend . The following letter has been received by the Officer Commanding 7th Reserve Cavalry Regiment from Lieut Colonel Stanley Barry , C.M.G. M.V.O. D.S.O.Assistant Military Secretary Home Forces . 11 I am directed by the Field Marshal to write and thank you and your Officers for all the work you have done with your unit during the War . He much regrets that owing to the exigencies of the Service it has become necessary to reduce the number of Reserve Bavalry Regiments , at the same time he is sure that whatever dutios pe before them the Officere & men of the 9th & 21st Lancers will maintain the famous traditions which they have inherited from their history , and that they will display the same Cavalry spirit and devotion to duty as that on which he has always relied so much , especially during the early days of the prosent campaign in France .. The following copy og a letter recoived from Brigadier General O.V. Lumley , Commanding 2nd Reserve Cavalry brigade is published for information . It is with great regret that , owing to the reorganisation of the Reserva Cavalry brigade the G.O.C. 2nd Reserve Cavalry Brigade is obliged to part with his friends in the 7th Restrve Cavalry Regiment . Since the commencement of the War , Officers , N.C.O's & men of this unit have done their best to maintain the traditions inherited from the 9th a 21st Lancers , with the result that Discipline and Training have alwaye been kept up to a high -standard . The B.O.C. thanks all ranks for their loyal cupport and wishes them the best of luck for the future . |
