Forwarded for information , and necessary action with reference to the attached list of Officers and N.C.O.s. ( Sa ) Cecil.D . Field , Capt . Brigade Major , 2nd ( Reserve ) Cavalry Brigade . England is a happy land , it's Far , far away . This " Bit of Heaven is not so grand -Rain every day . The Curragh Camp puts years on me , In " Stewart " or in " Ponsonby . " Roll on when I cross the sea , and go Far , far away . We've got a dining hall , Not far away . We love to hear the trumpet call , " Cook - house door , " each day . For dinner we have " spuds " and meat . They float in grease and don't look neat . We pitch it underneath the seat , Far , far away . Our Soldiers ' Home is very fine , it's Not far away , The " Wads " are numbered one to nine , On sale each day . Of plates and cups there's not a lot , Some have handles , some have not . One " Blow - out " and the cash you've got , goes Far , far away . Our stables they get lots of wear Nearly scrubbed away . The troops are always working there ; Both night and day . Curragh , 1917 . Far , Far Away ! Will meet There's saddles like an old tin can And fifteen horses to each man , When stables sounded how they ran Far , far away . Endless fatigues they break my heart , All through the day . When one is finished , others start I can't get away . " Forage " and " Rations " aint no kid , With barrows through the mud we skid , But loading dung puts on the lid , " pray . 44 Oh ! how I I like to hear the Sergeant shout , Fall in for pay . How I wish they would pay out , Twice every day . Up to the pay - table you " Sweat , " You think it's fifteen , -then you get , " Two Bob , " " Sign here , " for you're in debt , then Sadly file away . They say a hospital we've got . Far , far away . Of patients there are quite a lot , Hundreds every day . From aches and pains you are not free , You fondly hope you will get " C. " " Swinging the lead " gets you " M.D. " Duty all the day . T. B. MOOLTAN HARRIERS , TIDWORTH , Monday April 2 and Windmill Hill . Thunday afsil 5th Mooltan Bamrache At : 2.
