Tracing of photograph of Officers coat of the 12th Light Dragoons circa 1768 - 75 ?.
Red cloth , black velvet facings , silver lace and buttons ; Pair of silver enaulettes embroidered with Prince of Wales feathers and motto on yellow silk ; silver spangles and thread , yellow cloth - stran under the epaulette .
Between silver chevrons a black velvet stripe .
Coat lined cream silk , skirts turned back and held in position by hook and eyes , on two velvet badges worked with silver spangles and thread on each skirt . The skirts are more turned back at the back than at the sides , which would be better for riding ?.
