OFFICERS . MIDDLE WEIGHTS . Lieut . R. C. Norris ( Carabi neers ) v . Lieut . Porter ( 9th Lan cors ) . Porter led off with his left on the chest , and then both men landed well , showing excellent work . Porter , however , did most of the leading , using both arms effectively , and scoring with good punches on the jaw . In the sec ond round both opened in good style , Porter again forcing mat ters , getting in good left face blows , and once narrowly missing the point with an upper cut with the right . Norris retaliated with a left face blow , but could not stand against his more speedy and lively opponent , and looked in dif ficulties several times . Porter led off in the last round with a couple of effective face blows with his left , and then both rallied , fighting strongly . Porter , how ever , forced the pace with tremen dous blows , and Norris gave in about the middle of the round . Porter won . 4 ... ( A T JGP 9L Thomas and Stockwell , both of th Carabineers . met in the next bout . The verdict went to the latter . OFFICERS ' MIDDLE . Lieut . R. C. Norris , Carabineers , and Lt. Porter , 9th Lancers , met in the hrst round of the midd'es for officers . Porter had the best of matters , as his returns were nasty and kept Norris , who did the attacking , well at bay . Norris fought pluckily in the next round but Porter was too experienced and got in some telling right and lefts . The third round was terrifie in its opening stages , and was not fought to a conclusion as Norris could last . not The award went to Porter . Lt. R. S. Andras , A.V.C. , then turn ed out against Huntingdon , Welch Regiment . in the same competition . The first round was a lively one , and blows generally were the order of the day . Andras had the best of mat ters . The next was a fine bout and Huntingdon did well , and got in some heavy work on the face and neck . His opponent guarded well on the whole . Huntingdon was most plucky and put up a tremendous fight against his hea vier opponent . Andras got na heavy right hander . and Huntingdon rose in time to prevent being counted He made a bold bid for victory , but his opponent's blows were effective and he lost the verdict . out . too South African Army & Nary Апнут Bening championship .
