horse sports. It is a reflection on the resilience of all ranks that
as many people as possible got away to ski in the winter. There
were no great racing successes but all the competitions were
entered and a placing was gained in the Princess Marina Cup
thanks to the leadership displayed by Major Nash and Lt
Lindsay in the downhill and langlauf events, What years these
had been, Activities speak for themselves but as an illustration
of the movement of individuals the RSM calculated, from a
photograph in his Mess taken in 1964, that of the seventy odd
in the Mess in 1975 only nine were still serving of which
three were commissioned and three at regimental duty. One
stabilising event was the commissioning in June of the Chief
Clerk, Mr Warlow, and his appointment as Assistant Adjutantt
On 91h January 1976 the Regiment reformed into its North—
ern Ireland organisation which entailed the disbandment of
Command Squadron. Reece parties were despatched to Omagh
and those from the Queen’s Own Hussars were received at
Detrnold. Training continued apace until all departed to
England for block leave prior to moving to Northern Ireland
in the second week of May.
