presence ofa large congregation the old Guidons were handed
over at the altar to the Chaplain by Brigadier Sir Christopher
Pete and Major-General The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley
respectively “This consecrated Guidon”, they each said, “for-
merly carried in the service of Queen and Commonwealth, I
now deliver into your hands for safe custody within these
walls.” The Chaplain replied “I receive this Guidon for safe
custody wiLhin Lhis Garrison Church of St Michael.” Thus
ended at Tidworth, a place of many memories for the Old
Comrades of the foundation regiments, three days ofceremony,
entertainment and remembrance which delighted all who were
present. The absence of CSquadron in Cyprus was a sadness
but the work, efficiency and courtesy of all ranks who were
present was outstanding. The move to Munster began the
following week. It was overshadowed by the news of the murder
of Sergeant Maughan in a shooting incident in Ulster where
he had been Working on the Staff He was an outstanding
NCO. The Regiment, less C Squadron which re-joined it on the
26th June, was complete in Munster by the 18th May.
