A Squadron
Command Changes
The changes in the hierarchy of A Sqn
have been such as to render the com-
mand structure almost unrecognisable
since the summer of 1984. Although
Sqn Leaders and SSM: may come and
go. JNCOs and troopers just soldier on!
It is very much due to their hard work
and professionalism that the Squadron
has been able to take these changes in
its stride. while striving to achieve
reasonable results both in barracks and
in the field.
Major Dickens packed up his wind-
surfers and skis in December to assume
command of the MOD. The Squadron
wishes him every success in his new job
and hopes that his family are enjoying
life in Kingston-upon~Thames. SSM
Fergus has also moved on, but this
time only as far as TECH, anyone
Tprs State and Bcnnclt.
heard muttering “aupe'r remf” will
probably receive little in the way of
favours! Others too have moved on
including Sgt ‘Hissing Sid' Reid. SSgt
Corby, Sgt Saxton. Sgt Marshall and
Sgt Butterfield. Amazingly, replace-
ments have been found to take the
place of all these men; no doubt Sgts
Morgan, Edson, Hughes. Dye and
Shipley will be A Sqn men through and
through by the time Exercise Silver
Jubilee is over.
SSM Neumann has returned to his
former stamping ground to fill the
ample shoes of SSM Fergus — His first
move was totally to customize his
ferret.
Major Dicken's departure left a void
that has been filled successfully by
Captain Wathen prior to the return of
Major Crofton from the Oman.
Certainly Captain Wathen has enjoyed
the opportunity to flex his muscle
during his three and a half months of
command. At the same time he will
join the remainder of the Squadron in
welcoming the return of that old A
Squadron stalwart, Major Crofton.
Competitions
A Squadron has competed with
enthusiasm and. varying degrees of
success, in every possible military.
sporting and social activity throughout
the Regiment. This included, of course.
the Boeselager competition when A
Squadron provided a large proportion
of the squad from which the team was
picked.
We won the Regimental Athletics
