THE 9TH/l2TH ROVAL LANCERS REUIMENTAI JOURNAI Headquarters Squadron SHQ in Action. ‘rpr Larkut. [Cpl Jone). Sgt won and Tpr Rodcnu)? We have been in Wolfenbuttel for just over a year and. everyone has settled down well. All agree that this is one of the best postings we have had for a long time. Our barracks are close to the town and only a short drive from the Hat: Mountains. The Squadron took part in all major exercises last year and most of the minor ones. The grand finale being ‘Lionheart' in the Autumn, I couldn't mention ‘Lionheart' without remembering the Quartermaster, who. it would appear, requires five tilley lamps hung from trees in order to enjoy his evening meal. nor the Quarter- master (T) who drives through the middle of tank battles to get “Zubes” for his sore throat. Last year was not one of our best for sport, We took part in all the Regimen- tal Competitions but finished more often than not as the losers. This year will be better! In the weeks leading up to Christmas we were crashed out three times and were beginning to wonder if it was becoming a habit. After a very good Squadron Party those who could getaway disappeared in the direction of the Channel Ports for a short break in England. After Christ- mas the weather turned very cold. Everyone is hoping that a cold winter means a warm summer. At the time of writing we are preparing to move out onTroapTrainingthiayurtotheSouth |
