Year 1985
Transcription THE 9TH/12TH ROYAL LANCERS REGlMENTAL JOURNAL
An hour of scripture reading and
exhartation in several languages was a
testing Introduction to the audience.
it was enlivened by Pope John who
welcomed many groups by name This
drew from them a suitable response in
song or demonstration; one had a
ghastly moment of terror that his eye
might Light on us. But eventually all
was over and His Holiness stepped
down to greet personally those nearby.
He spent several minutes with the
regimental party. it gave him time to
speak to each officer and lo receive
from the Colonel a copy of the
regimental history. He let! an
impression of enormous interest and
sincerity with us all. it was indeed a
moment of great privilege for which
the Regiment is much lndebted to Lord
Moncklon.
