Comments on The Guidon Parade
he Regiment received many letters after
the Guidon Parade, and below are a few
paragraphs from just a few of those letters,
which typified the response to the occasion;
“My wife and I wish to thank you, and
those you command for a wonderful, and
very memorable weekend of 21-23 July
2000. We were met with kindness and
good manners at all times. The 9th/12th
Royal Lancers are a credit to you Sir. I am
so very proud for having served in such a
fine Regiment.”
“In these days of spin, tat, and superficiality, it was
wonderful to see such quality, commitment and loy-
alty to the best of the old order being produced, and
hopefully enjoyed, by today’s young men.”
“I do not see the Guidon Parade and indeed the whole
day could have been done better. It was in every way
a most enjoyable and satisfying occasion.”
“Everyone was so welcoming to ‘Old Sweats’ like
myself, who were immensely proud to see mat-
ters carried out with such perfection and style. It
was well worth the journey.”
