Royal Visit - New Guidon
One of the privileges of being a Late Entry Officer is the
opportunity to build on the experiences of Regimental life
beyond that normally attained in a 22 year career. As the
longest continuous serving member of the Regiment at
Regimental DutyI have had the pleasure oftakingpart in many
parades and ceremonies. As a young trooper back in 1977 I was
serving with C Sqn in Cyprus and was unable to be present on
parade at the presentation ofwhat was then our new Guidon by
our Colonel in Chief Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. At
that time I could never have imagined that 23 years on I would
be given the opportunity to redress the balance and take part in
a parade that will undoubtedly mark such an important time in
the Regiment’s recent history. The pride I felt that day cannot
be expressed in the written word and the memories that I have
of that wonderful occasion will stay with me for the rest of my
life. I once again raise my port glass in a toast to our Colonel in
Chief Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
Capt Pearce,
