However, the latter end of 2003 and the beginning of 2004 did not augur well for the future 7 we lost three bandsmen, terry Thorn, Tony Mabbett and Chris Vaughnley, together with popular Ted Sykes from the Regiment. Unfortunately we are not getting any younger and we must therefore enjoy the company of our colleagues at every opportunity. On the other side of the coin, we gave just passed the magical cricket figure ofa century of members which reflects the esteem in which our Association is held by those, who at one time, wore the uniform of the 9th Queens Royal Lancers. This year, we had the pleasure of a string quartet to entertain before and during the Sunday dinner, an innovation we hope to be able to affiord again in 2005. Furthermore, we returned to the fifties by playing the Mess ca11 just prior to going into the dinner 7 it was recorded specially for us by a trumpeter of the Queens Royal Lancers Band stationed in Germany. The dates of neXt year’s Reunion weekend are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the 16th, 17th and 18th September 2005 7 you can make it a one day, two day or three day celebration, the choice is yours.
