Your fr/efld/y, he/pfu/ Q dept,
Admin Troop
Admin Troop has changed completely since the return of the
Squadron from OP TELIC. SSgt, now WOZ Shane White has
been posted to a Cadet Training Team in Cardiff and Tpr “Mez”
Merryweather moved to Support Troop. The two old sweats of
the Troop, Cpl “Fern” Hancock and LCpl “Simmo” Simpson
have both remained to give the new Q man a helping hand (A
big helping hand). SSgt Windy Millar has joined the Troop
from the appointment of Provost Sergeant and Tpr Paddy
0’ Kelly has joined the Troop from Support Troop.
The Troop has been busy with a good old fashioned sort out
(spring clean) since OP TELIC carrying on with the usual
paperwork trail of checks and returns, not to mention the daily
head scratching and time consuming wrestle with the UNICOM
terminal. The Squadron Accommodation Block now looks like
Joseph’s multi coloured dream coat with rooms painted every
colour imaginable and some colours until now undiscovered.
Bonfire night saw the introduction of the Squadron’s bustling
big boy (Fern’s) burger bar, well an 18 - 24 with a number five
cooker! This saw the culinary diversity of Simmo and Paddy’s
burger flipping. (With a great deal of help from the catering
departmentl).
Gunnery Camp has shown the steady flow of more burger eating
and the inevitable Tprs with no money pleading poverty and
wanting everything on tick. We now have the unenviable task
of cleaning up after Gunnery Camp and cleaning the number
five cook set, complete with welded on lard. The Troop is hold-
ing out for a Merry Christmas and as usual a busy and hecti_c .

Fitter Section
It was all change for the fitter section post Op Telic. Only 1 sur-
viving member remained, (LCpl Dale), as the rest were posted
out and new personalities arrived. Some with no CVR (T) expe-
rience but that just made things more challenging. A steep
learning curve was ahead for all.
First off was preparation for the relocation to Bavaria for Ex
Swabian Lance. The Fitter section managing to get the entire
fleet roadworthy in time for this mammoth event. During the
exercise we coped with numerous breakdowns and many other
faults but always maintaining a high percentage of equipment
availability involving all trades. Prior to breaking up for leave
Cpl Sallis and LCpl Dale managed to escape for another week in
Bavaria as part of the LAD organised mountain bike adventure
training. We pushed our bikes and efforts to the limits and
despite falling off occasionally the fun factor far outweighed the
pain. After the summer leave we returned to a more relaxed rou-
tine before building up to the annual firing camp. Once again
all trades worked hard to keep the standard of equipment avail-
ability high.
The last big event of the year was the long awaited opening of
the rebuilt bar and the Christmas party combined. All the sec-
tion attended and despite our memories being a bit vague had an
excellent evening. Looking to the busy year ahead, once again
departing to sunny climes, we will continue to supply the high
standards we have set in all aspects of our work, including fit-
ness. Despite being a small (and comparatively older) section I
believe we are leading the troops in the Squadron fitness assess-
ments. Despite being ‘attached’ personnel, we have been readi-
ly accepted into the squadron ‘ d continue to take part in
ntal activitr s and when they arise.
