2 Tp _ Tpr Richmond — Today’s soldier? (Picture courtesy otstB.) 3rd Troop Troop training in I986 was a success for the to in terms of the accommodation acquired as well as the good result in troop tests (sixth in the Regiment. second in the Squadron). There were also some hilarious moments, as when Sgt Bentley managed to find with his foot the secret hiding place of Tpr Linwood’s glasses. In the morning Linwood gave the first ever demon, stration of a drive driving with parallax. In the Summer the Tp went to Norway for a canoeing and hill-walking expedition organized by Lt Charrington. 2Lt Ashwell from the AAC joined in for the FTX Seasonl After that it was time to prepare the vehicles for handover and for the move to Wimbish. Lt Charington, whose cool and wit will be missed by us all, left for Cyprus with A Sqn, to be replaced by 2L1 Fairfax, Cpl Kovaks went to the D&M School at Bovington, Tpr Buckley to Support Tp and Tpr Kenney to SHQ. Finally, we welcomed Tprs Wiggin and Dunckley to the troop. The exercises went well and the magnificent weather an Ex Grand Canyon tricked us into thinking that we could forget about our waterproofs. 0n Ex Eternal Triangle, a week later, it rained non-stop throughout the our else. It only remains to be said that Cpl Hall was at last seen to smile after being promoted, and Tpr Payne finally managed to pass his BFTl Tpr Steve Buckley married Miss Karen Siltock at Chesterfield Zilh April 1987 |
