Regiment 9th/12th Lancers
Year 1987
Transcription 3rd Troop
Another solid year for 3 Troop,
having stayed much the same for some
time. We achieved only a disappointing
41h place on Troop tests in Bavaria.
but morale in the team remained
unshaken as we departed to Italy on
Ex ROMAN HUSSAR. which. in
retrospect, was bigger than BenAHur.
All the troop funds disappeared one
night on pizza and gopping red wine
7 which Tpr Duff saw again later that
evening.
Umpiring GRAND CANYON was
enjoyable. Tpr Aslin especially enjoyed
the company of Miss Rowlands who
was monitoring his “stress factors".
She was swiftly despatched to D Squad-
ron.
ETERNAL TRIANGLE was very
slow going in the tiny area allotted lo
19 Infantry Brigade. This precipitated
extreme bouts of refreshment in Mars-
berg and Badenfeld. Tpr Wright‘s
“savoir faire" with the local female
population must be noted.
Congratulations to Mrs Sterenberg
and Mrs Crofts who have both produced
daughters this year: Lisa and Amy.
Sad to say the old team is now
breaking up. Cpl Crofts departs to I
Troop. Cpl Filler to Catterick. and Lt
Wilson soon goes into honourable
retirement after four years unbroken
service with the troop. Good luck to
Tpr Hill who joins his wife Andrea
in Germany, and to Tpr “Charles"
Chadwick who left on a high note.
SP Troop
We started the year with a very
successful troop training period. during
which we operated closely with A Sqn’s
Support Troop. There were a few
Changes in manning prior to Troop
Tests. LCpl Rainey departed under
protest to SHQ as the new medic. His
first job was to help patch up Tpr
Willis, who discovered he wasn‘t Super-
man after all, when attempting to fly
out of the back window of a Gastatte.
