THE 9TH/lZTH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL Band Notes 42 Wolfenbuttel The last edition of the Regimental Journal saw the Band entering into the New Year. and once again it was a very busy time After a well earned Christmas leave the Band returned ready for work. all with good intentions of keeping their New Year resolutions. Sgt Martin was once again trying to give up smoking, and the Band Sergeant Major was trying to give up scrounging theml Our first task of 1986 was a pleasant one. The BSM had arranged a visit to the local Brewery, so we could see for ourselves just how the ‘Wobhly Juice' was made. Unfortunately the day chosen for the trip was also the day the Brewery was closed for repair, Cpl Herbert was heard to mutter that the Band Sergeant Major couldn’t organise a drink in a Brewery. or words to that effect. Luckily the tasting room was still functioning, so in the end a good time was had by all, Our first musical job was for the manager of the local coach hire firm, where the Band shared a spot with a snake act, [t was the first occasion we really appreciated Cavalry trousers, ssy McGauley reminiscing over his day ‘down pit‘ «u |
