THE 9TH/IZTH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL everyone had been taught to windsurf safely. and how to “look good on a board" in the true Sgt Nicholl style. ‘Duck Jibes' were however a problem for some people. We also managed to borrow some canoes so everyone was given a basic lesson in their use, We had to go to another lake for waterskiing which was tremendous fun, and Very popular. Tpr Glover performed some amazing feats while Sgt Nichol] inspected the water at close range 70 We had a couple of barvb-ques in the evening to give Machin and Askins enough energy to tackle the girls at the local disco. These two spent a lot of time pining for their girlfriends back in Wolfenbiittel and eventually turned to drink, joining Tpr Brown who had turned to drink anyway. Being Cavalry Soldiers we found our way into a riding school, with Tprs Cunningham. Lowe and Shaw doing a reasonable impression of ‘Devils on Adventure Trained Horseback‘i The exercise was extremely worth- while. It contained some activities which were new to us, Bavaria is an excellent place to exercise, whether it be arduous training or watersports. Many thanks to Sgt Nicholl who was invaluable for his patience and hours of instruction, without which little could have been achieved. |
