1986 Show Jumping and Hunter Trial Season
1986 was another successful year
with even better results than 1985. The
first main event was the Verden
Garrison Summer show in early May.
This was the first appearance for
LCpl Williams on HM Queen Mother‘s
Barometer and they did extremely well
to take 4th place in the Soldiers Jumping.
Cpl Beadle had spent a year resting
his horse “Marcos Delos” after a
nasty injury, so he was particularly
pleased when winning the soldiers
class first time out. The stable team
dominated the Maiden stakes. Cpl
Beadle was 2nd, LCpl Williams 3rd. and
Mrs Gent 5th on Amigo. Cpl Herbert
of the band also had a successful outing
taking lst place in the 6 Bar lumping
and being placed 3rd in the Beginners
class. After such a flying start the
Rhine Army Spring Horse Trials proved
a little disappointing; the only success
being a Bid by Barometer in the Novice
class ridden by LCpl Williams.
Mrs Gent had a very successful time
at the Rhine Army Summer Show taking
3rd in the Novice Championship and
being 4th in the BAOR Open Champion-
ship. against stiff opposition. Cpl
Beadle was 3rd in the consolation
stakes, he also found time to win
the Farrier Competition as the best
Army Farrier.
After a brief summer rest the team
concentrated on the Autumn
Hunter Trials hoping to improve on
Cpl Beadle on his way to winning the 1935 Open Championship
