Transcription THE 9TH/IZTH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL
9/12L LAD Marathon team winners: Cpls Eld. Green and Thomas
was discovered at the sidings that the
Stalwart would not go through French
railway tunnels! A very hasty switch
of equipment saw the SAMSON just
scrape on the train.
In July a team from the LAD, ably
led by the ASM. W01 Lloyd. success-
fully completed the Nijmegen Marches.
The team trained hard and this paid off
as the hot weather made the event very
arduous. Several members of the team
suffered severe blisters. none more so
than the ASM who battled on despite
being in great pain.
After completing this herculean task,
W01 Lloyd went on to complete
another — he got commissioned and is
now serving with AMF(L) workshopt
We wish him the best of luck.
His replacement. W01 Hunt, fresh
from sunny Kuwait. found himself
busy as we launched into the Autumn
exercise period.
Ex Eternal Triangle was fairly un-
eventful for the LAD with little work
for the fitter section and practically
none for the main LAD — we all
became experts at Trivial Pursuit. The
availability of major assembles was
such that the whole Regiment was able
to motor back into camp, a rare
occurrence after a major exercise.
After Christmu preparations began
in earnest for the handover to QDG.
All the effort was rewarded with a very
good PRE report with special mention
for all the hard work the crews had put
in.
March was a very successful end for
9/ l2L LAD in Wolfenbtittel. The LAD
team entered in the REME Moechen-
gladbach Marathon came in first. Special
mention must be made of Cpl Green
who came in as fourth overall REME
runner. The OC and Cfn Whittaker
teamed up for the first time to enter Ex
SPRING FOIL. a BAMA rally around
the Minden area and finished as 2nd
Novice.
As we say farewell and the best of
luck in Wimbish to 9/l2L. we are
rapidly sewing on new titles. as we
welcome and look forward to a busy
year with QDG.
