l l THE 9TH/12TH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL Ex Delhi Diamond before our depanure from Wolfenbutlel. Len to right: Tprs Durr. Aslin. 2n Douglas»Millcr, Lt Rigby. Sgt Kerridge, Tprs Hall, Richmond and Winter Ex Bohemian Diamond Elements from A Squadron and a few representatives from other Squad- rons spent an enjoyable ten days adventure training in Bavaria last August. We managed to stay in a ski hut in the village of Wertach which suited our purposes well. It was a comfortable hut with a bar and close to all the areas of intended activity, First, under the instruction of Sgt Nichol] everyone was taught to climb and abseil. There were some difficult climbs which provided the element of danger needed. Tpr Williams had a few problems going up but with sheer determination, he made it. We found coming down considerably easier. We also spent a few day walking up some pretty “serious" Bavarian hills. Although extremely strenuous it was highly enjoyable, especially for LCpl Henderson and Tpr Thomas who treated it like an average training session. The weather was very good so water sports were at a premium. Sgt Nichol] ensured that by the end of the exercise. 69 |
