Old Comrades Association
"All this and the duty tree"
The usual full programme of events
was held during the year. The organis-
ation and planning was done by our
hard working Committee, who met
regularly at the Household Cavalry
Regiment, Knightsbridge. We are grate-
ful to the WOs and NCOs of that Regi-
ment for allowing us to use their
comfortable Mess for Committee
meetings.
In July 1986 I was happy to attend
the first area reunion to be held for
many years. This took place at Derby,
it was organised by Messrs Jordan and
Kelly; about twenty Old Comrades
attended and. I believe. enjoyed the
evening, It is hoped that this will be
the first of many meetings in that area,
and that other area branches will be
formed to run similar events.
In August the usual Service was held
at the 9th Lancer Memorials in Canter-
bury Cathedral with luncheon arranged
afterwards at the County Hotel, A
Mons/Moy outing took place from llth
to 15th September — it was a last
opportunity to visit the Regiment in
Germany during their tour of duty in
that Country. A record number or over
120 Old Comrades were present. The
Wolfenbuttel facilities are excellent
and the Regiment worked hard to enter»
tain us royally. Thanks are due to the
then Commanding Officer, Lieutenant
Colonel Robin Readhad. to the Quarter-
master. Major David Warlow, the
members of the WOs and Sgts Mess
and, to all members of the Regiment
for their great kindness and generous
hospitalityl
I am grateful to those members who
supported the Field of Remembrance
Planting ceremony at Westminster
Abbey on Thursday. 6th November.
On Sunday, 9th November, a service
was held at the Combined Cavalry
Memorial in Hyde Park and I am
