Catering Troop After our first weekend away with the wives and children. our next venture included both camping in the Harz mountains and a weekend visit to Sudsee (Soitau). Once more after much planning we were off, the weather might have been following us from the year before. but alter a damp start. we managed to sun ourselves and to have a dip in the lake. Once more the bar-b-q was the “in thing for food." thank goodness it was not compo. The days soon passed and before we knew it we were back in Wolfenbtlttel. the cooks weekend THE 9TH/12TH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL Camping Sudsee behind us. Many events and happenings have passed us by. from summer to winter. from Wolfenhtlttel to Wirnbishz- Well this is Wimbish now. Wolfen- bllttel is behind us but I hasten to add not forgotten. As well as leaving Wolfenbuttel and the snow we also left behind some 50% of our troop. Those duty rosters will never look quite the same without the names 5315 McEach- ran and Donkin and Pt: Ludford to name but a sample Some stayed in Germany. one went to Cyprus, one to Ireland and the rest of \is m Wimbish. Unpacked MFO boxes. new quarters. all are now behind us. After block leave it will be all stations go. Looking ahead to Regimental training. something called Adamant. Some of us are about to find out about Cyprus while Otter» burn and Castlemartin will bring us close to Christmas and yet another year completed. During all this time many new faces will appear in the Catering Troop replacing those who have left us. We welcome them to a happy and enjoyable tour. here at Wimhish with the 9/12th Royal Lancers. |
