The last B Sqn notes finished with
the Sqn first having completed PROBEX.
the annual exercise with the French and
Americans After the exercise. the Sqn
settled down to enjoy a summer of
Sport and summer working hours, ln
the Inter Sqn Athletics competition we
were just pippeti for second place By
D Son, but overall the Sqn did very
well especially with the help from Cpl
Kerr, Sgt Williams and our talented
LAD section. The next major event
was the Nuclear Site Guard, one of
those week long commitments that
require immense patience and attention
to detail — especially as the rules to
be obeyed are American made. However
the Son did well receiving a special
congratulatory note l'rom the American
Commander for their vigilance and
professionalism.
The summer then got into full swing
with matters of sport and just enough
work to keep the REME happy. We
played a lot of cricket not only in the
General's Cup compcition where the
Squadron team got through to the
quarter finals, but also in the Regimental
Competition when we were narrowly
defeated by a very strong HQ Squadron
teams Several troops took the oppor-
tunity to go Adventure Training and
this combined nicely with three weeks
Block Leaves On our return from leave
Mons-Moy preparations began in
earnest with much parading. cleaning
of kit and the preparation of Tpr
Sloan for his starring role as Regimental
Fortune Teller. Mons»Moy went off
well with an excellent Sgt's Mess party
in the Gym and a parade where all
ranks were at their smartest # if not at
their most wide awake.
The Squadron then started preparing
for the Autumn exercise, with Ihe
soldiers putting in many hours on the
tank park while the commanders took
part in a three day session of tactical
discussions. We also started up a series
of skills competitions for Sqn trophies,
these involved inter-tp contests ranging
from shooting to an assault course —
very much a mini Boeslagerl
