REGIMENTAL JOURNAL OF THE 9TH/12TH ROYAL LANCERS (PRINCE OF WALES’S) 103 Home Headquarters Home Headquarters, 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince ofWales’s), TA Centre, Saffron Road, Wigston, LEICESTER LEl8 4UX Regimental Secretary Major DN Chappell Captain SP Hardy Mr S Mamnani Miss S Bull Assistant Regimental Secretary Administrative Officer Clerical Support Assistant 2006 has been another busy if undramatic year. We have lost Ajantha who was seduced by the bright lights of London town, while also looking forward to getting married in Sri Lanka this April. Her post has yet to be filled, but finally after three sets of interviews we have offered the post to Miss Sheryl Bull who aims to start in April. The workload has been shared but less than equally, as the major burden has fallen on Suresh. He has coped manfully and further underlined his place as the lynchpin of the team. Joe seems in remarkably good heart especially considering the looming smoking ban. He does make a fine silhouette outside in the snow, wreathed in smoke. His morale came under further attack when a young girl offered him her seat on the tube, but it was restored when another kissed him farewell on any number of occasions! Anyway he must be content overall because he has not felt the need to buy a new car this year, so far! The Three Regiments reform the Working Party this spring to select the final design and Design Team. There will be a lot of detailed work to be done for the displays, and any vol- unteer help would be much appreciated in that and the physical movement and selection of items for display It is likely that the museum will be closed from mid summer for the refilrbishment. Mike Galer has taken the post of Curator and he is welcomed whole heartedly. We were temporarily snowed under with enquiries and filled in a few of the many gaps in our knowledge while trying to answer them. It was an especial pleasure to be included in the lunch given by the Duchess of Cornwall for 12L Comrades of her father. It was a rather hectic three weeks but the day was a greatly enjoyed by all who went. We are still awaiting the photograph of Gilly Brockbank sitting in the sentry box outside Clarence House, with the rather bemused policeman looking on. |
