Lt Coroorah Keeps eyes on
As Support Troop approached becoming a section, help
arrived in the guise of LCpl Franks and Tpr Marples from A
Sqn. Besides trying to catch up with lst Troop in the sun tan
competition, the remaining two months were an opportunity
to flex our muscles within our AO.
Upon return to Germany the troop grudgingly took post tour
leave for five weeks. Some used the time constructively 7 two
weeks hockey in Barbados 7 whilst others got married: con-
gratulations to Will and Emma. Returning from leave, Cpl
Howard, LCpls Williams and Knowles, and Tprs Day and
Foster chose to top up their tans in the Omani desert and
deployed on EX SAIF SAREEA. Then the troop suffered a
whole host of departures: the troop leader to the rear eche-
lons, Cpl Howard to the only place he calls home, and LCpl
Whitworth to Fallingbostel Detention Centre (as Provo, I
hasten to add). Within C Sqn, Sgt Carter is now struggling to
familiarize himself with things with bigger barrels in 2nd Tp
(too long in Boot Tp, Sgt C, but many thanks for the decade’s
servicel). Cpl Williams will eventually go to Winchester and
Tpr Mitchell has decided enough is enough and has returned
to the comforts of GW Tp.
As the training season approaches, the remaining stalwarts of
Cpl Broadhurst, LCpl ‘LSSA’ Knowles and Tprs Day,
Hopkins and Leathers are left to assist the new troop ser-
geant, Sgt Millar. There is talk of him of having experience
outside of an SQMS, but the truth remains to be seen. The
troop welcomes LCpl Salih and Tpr Smith 240 and new boys
Tprs Loughman, O’Sullivan and Westhead. Guys, good luck
for 2002!

Admin Troop
Admin Troop started off larger than life this year - in more ways
than one. SSgt Martin was instrumental in boosting Squadron
funds with his novel gambling machine and his rounding up of
tick bills in Kosovo. Cpl ‘Windy’ Millar was never too far away
from Q, especially when it came to playing table tennis and table
football. LCpl ‘Queenie’ Hale played a key part in keeping
Troops supplied at Gazala Lines; this was when he was not too
busy on urgent taskings at the American PX or in the gym!
LCpl ‘Harry’ Harrison helped with the maintenance of the
stores, such as the skiing equipment (in June?) Tpr ‘Mini Q’
Casey established a great standard of fitness in Kosovo in prepa-
ration for the impending JNCO Cardre Course. Tpr ‘Chris’
Clachan was the quiet one of a bad bunch, but he took great
pleasure in diligently carrying out the resupply of Gate 2 on a
‘Groundhog Day’ basis. Cpl ‘Swiss Tony’ Clarke headed the
Catering department with some fine cuisine (sometimes).
Helping him were Tpr Reeves and, stuck out at the outpost of
Gazala Lines, LCpl Buchan. Towards the end of the tour, Tpr
Wilson joined the department from 3 Troop, having completed
his time in a Sabre Troop.
Upon returning from Kosovo, the Troop’s personalities were
blown to the four corners of Haig Barracks. However, following
a spate ofpromotions, the department now has a new, dynamic
and undeniably younger look. Congratulations to W02
(RSWO) Martin, Sgts Millar and Fleetwood and the JNCO
Cadre course winner, LCpl Casey, on their promotions. The
department’s new blood comprises SSgt ‘Sporty’ Thomas , who
returned from posting, newly promoted Cpl Pritchard, Tpr
‘Always in the gym’ McDonald and Tpr Wilson.
Following a busy November Squadron Gunnery Camp - erect-
ing tents and cooking burgers - the Troop continue to plod along
at a ‘slow and steady wins the race’ pace, looking forward to 2002
and deploying to Canada as OPFOR at BATUS.
Q Thomas , happy wrth hrs Bart/e Rep/eh
