Boxing
Last year proved to be a good year for
Regimental Boxing. In November 1982
the Team was beaten 9 , O by 21 Engr
Flegt ”'1 the l Arrrid Div Novrce Boxing
Championships; although well beaten.
the score hardly reflects the hard
gutsy performance by the Regimental
Team Determined to do better lll 1983
the learn continued training and
arranged a light against the 14/20H on
the 16th February Alter a nall biting
contest and alter being 4, 1 down at
the interval, the Team came back to
Win 5 - 4
Having again entered the Divistonal
Novtce Championships, the Team was
surprised to find themselves drawn
against the 14/20H, this meant
lighting this Regiment twtce tn a
period 01 8 months. The Meeting
produced some hard contests, but
probably nobody guessed that the
results would be exactly the same as tn
the previous meettng The Regimental
Team again finding thenrselves4 , 1
down at the interval but then coming
back to win by 5 boots to 4, Knowrng
they had drawn the Green Howards in
the second round, the Boxing Team
settled down to some really hard
training, The Contest was fought in
Osnabruck, the team |osrng 7 - 1 alter
some hard lights, and a little bad luck
As for the luture, the Team is
working closely With the local Amateur
Boxing Club in Wolfenbuttel, plus
building their own gymnasium. We
look to the 1984 Peto Cup to provide
some more young blood for the team
A mention of the light between Tor
Zubtzycki 876 and Cpl Pearce 14/20H
must be made According to the
offimals on the evening. the light was
the best and hardest contest they had
seen, A mention of the other
Zubrzycki 1396) brother is also in order
here. He has been stopped boxing for
medical reasons but has fought for the
Regiment on several occasions over
the years arid has been a main - stay at
the Team. He has been nominated for
a Boxing Coach's course this year,
The Boxing Team would like to take
this opportunity of thanking all
members of the Regiment for their
marvellous suoport during the
Contests.

Golf
The golf season ts almost upon us
again, Now is the time of the year
when the lair weather golfers (most 01
us) reappear, Once more to terrorise
the Golf Club membership. Clubs are
lranticallv being cleaned, spikes
renewed and tall stories exchanged.
The indigenous Wildlife ol the gall
course start to dig their burrows
deeper, only daring to come out as
darkness tails, and safety lrorn the
’invading hacker‘ reigns.
This year 9/12L, in conitinction With
1 Sqii 14 Signal Regiment, have
formed the rather grand sounding
Wolfenbt‘ittel Military Golfing Socreiy.
We look lorward to a good season and
to building, on the groundwork done
by 16/16L and ZHTH, a strong link
wtth Braunschweig Golf Club,
Braunschweig Club are allowrng us to
use their golf course, so etiquette
must now be observed and hackers
eliminated
We look torwaid to a season of
good friendly matches, and a chance
to chop a few of the ‘bandits’
handicaps. Must end these notes now,
I‘m told the course is open
