THESIHHYTH ROYAL LANCEHS REGlMENTAL Jounmii a: LAD Fitter Section at BATUS wtth LCpl Pemte sunbathing and tin Leighton relaxing on Tilly: ‘OK, hands up all those that have passed EPC?‘ Cpl Richards and LCpl Hickwood: 'We hayel’ Tiffy: 'Cpl Richards, write a piece for the Journall' Cpl Richards: ’Oh noi' Well, here it is. First, on behalf of the Section in Wolfeiibtittel may I take the opportunity of welcoming 9/12L and. in particular, 8 Squadron 9/12L to Northampton Barracks. After a brief settling-in period work started in earnest under the guidance of SSgt Cripps and with the expertise of Cpls Richards (VM), Macleod lelecl, Martyniuk [Recce Mechl, LCpls Wood lVMl. 'Gorgeous George‘ Koczubik WM) and last but not least CFNs Wittorl WM) and Eldredge lCETl. The first hurdle to overcome was the preparation of the vehicles for troop training on Exercise Fresh Start. This we managed to complete in record time and, by way at reward, the Fitter Section were 'asked to accompany the rest of the Squadron on a little "stroll" in the local area’. Being gullible wejumped at the chance to see the sights of Lower Saxony. which is exactly what we seemed to end up doing and, why Tilly got the nickname 'Pathlinderi' It seemed only a few hours after the Arduous Training phase that we started troop training proper. Cpl Macieod had his work cutout keeping up With SSM Gardner's demands for 24 the Spartan electrical goodies to fit into his FSC. There is a rumour that SSM Gardner has the only Ferret With a food processor fitted under the driver‘s seat (no not LCpI Kerr!) The exercises went well and the vehicles were kept on the road. ’Gorgeous George’ Kuczubik had the good luck to celebrate his birthday on Exercise Fresh Start so we all clubbed together to buy him a doughnut On the last day of the exercise, the newest recruit to the Section] Cfn Eldredge lCETl, put In his first appearance arriving at 0400 hours, as part of the SQMS replen run. One look at him confirmed that CET didn’t stand for Combat Engineer Tractor, we later found out that it stood for Control Equipment Technician la posh ’sparky’il We have now settled back to the less fraught routine of barrack life in Woliehbiittel. We are about to bid farewell to $591 Cripps on posting to Rheindahleh and LCpl Wood, who is finally heading for civvy street. We wish them both the best of luck.
