six ‘wet’ obstacles ranging from open
ditches to river lords, and a large pond
to jump out. A new innovation was a
pallet yard in a combinatiort, which
rode clear for all but three horses,
despite it's somewhat daunting
appearance. The final jump was a
beautifully constructed and last
steepleohase fence. which gave much
pleasure to those with racing blood in
their veins. The course was not easy
and produced a ‘test' sor'r'iewl‘iere for
every horse no matter how
experienced. Sadly, the course had to
be dismantled afterwards - this took
the full muster strength of C Squadron
precisely three hours!
The polo season was most
encouraging. The Regiment took a full
part in the BAOR and German
Tournaments. Wherever possible we
tried to enter as a Regimental team.
Alli’tough too inexperienced to Witt the
maior cup, we progressed throughout
the season and carried away the
'F‘late' in Berlin, plus a number of
minor prizes at other tournaments. At
the end of the season the Hamburg
Polo Club awarded us the 'Fairness'
Prize. for the team causing the least
number of touts.

Our move to Woltenb‘uttel provided
only temporary accommodation relief.
With twenty horses in the yard and
five more arriving shortly, new boxes
will have to be built. The Stables are
being reorganised into two yards; a
saddle club and a working yard for the
polo ponies. Cpl Beadle is running the
Polo Yard and chl Harrison the
Saddle Club. With strong interest
being shown in horses throughout the
regiment, we are confident that the
Saddle Club will be a great success.
The aim of the Polo Yard is to appear
in the finals of the ‘lnter Regimental‘
and the ’Captatns and Subalterns‘ in
