The cross country season seems to
get longer every year; at the ttrne ot

ts due to beheld on 6 May at
Munsterlager tn whtch we have
entered a five man team and are
hoptng to do well. The season started
on 28 September, 1983 wtth a 7/22
Bde Meeting at Munsterlager We
were narrowly beaten by strong teams
from t Armd Dtv Stg Regl, l RHA and
3 HGJ.
We hosted a meeting at Hohne on
16 November whtch was won by 5 Hy
Regt RA, The concensus was that tt
had been an entoyable 7 mtle course
The 7/22 Bde League flntshed tn
Verden thh the George Holden Relay
held over a 5 Km course thh all our
lst team tn under 78 mine We were
disapootnted to gatn only 5th place,
We were also 5th overall tn a well
contested league Other events durtng
the season showed that we have a
thrtvtng core of runners wtthtn the
Reglment whtch augers well for future

Marathon on a very hot 8 October

the flag for the Regtment tn an eotc
marathon relay from Rome to Bergen,
while LCpl Watson conttnued to
flourtsh on the German scene,
espeetally tn numerous half marathon
events.
The Regtmental Cross Country Race
was held tn Wolfenbuttel over :5 SW
mlle course on 9 Aprtl, HO Son carrted
away the Cup narrowly defealtng D
Sort. LCpl Watson won the race In a
remarkable ttme of 28 rrttns 33 secs
He had arnved lrom a course ltl
England only hours before the start
Thanks must be gtven to those who
supported the team espectally the
wtves', Mrs Sttattockl Sewell, Edwards
and Watson provtdtng the core; long
may tltetr stop watches be accurate

The only dtsappotntrnent at the
season was missth the Cavalry Cup tn
Osnabruck, thts event was held In the
tntddle of Ragtntental Trattttttg but we
shall be back next yearl
We were delighted to wtn the 20 Km
race held on 6 May 1984 at
Munsterlager There were 70 other
teams from the Brtttsh Army, Dutch
Armed Forces and the Bundesweltrt
The team won wtth an average lll'ne of
1 hr 25 mtns and LCpl Watson won the
race wtth a ttrhe of 1 hr 16 rntns The
race was run In ltghtwetght tSASl
combat smocks, ltghtwatght trousers
