ln a recent market survey carried out
by PRI people were asked what the
initials PRI stand for Over 50% of the
sample did not know or made
something up! For those who do not
know, PRl stands for President of the
Regimental institutes. The Regimental
Institutes provide various facilities and
amentities as follows:
a. The shop sells Regimental Regalia
and many other items,
Video Hire serVice
Minibus Hire serVIce
V Car insurance SETVICE.
. Fast photographic service.
. Barbers shop

g. Banking facilities for the Wives
Club, Kindergarten, Youth Club,
Scouts, Cubs, Brownies and
Regimental Messing,
h Purchase and maintenance of
Regimental Property not owned by
the Officers or Warrant Officers and
Sergeants Messes.
i. Funds for events such as
Mons/Moy weekend, Christmas
Childrens Parties and All Ranks
Dances.
Where does the money come from?
The income is from three sources: the
trading profit through the PRI shop,
the revenue from such sewices as the

Minibus, haircuts and insurance, and
mainly from the Junior Ranks of the
Regiment. The NAAFl, which runs the
JRC/Delhi Club on behalf of the
Regiment, donate a proportion ol their
profit as a Rebate to the Regimental
Institutes. Thus, as the bulk of the
money comes in from the Junior
Ranks, the bulk of the expenditure is
made for and on behalf oi the Junior
Ranks. Below is found a balance sheet
to explain the financial workings.
There has been an almost complete
change over of personalities in the last
year. Major Bennett handed over as
PR1 to Major Edgar. Mrs Warlow very
kindly ran the shop until the Regiment
moved to Wolienbuttel, when
Sergeant Saville took over. Corporal
Gobbey took over the minibus lrom
Trooper Greeve. Only Mrs Purves has
remained to provide continuity
