Home Headquarters, 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince ofWales’s), TA Centre, Saffron Road, Wigston, LEICESTER LE18 4UX
Acting Regimental Secretary
Administrative Officer Mr S Mamnani
Clerical Support Assistant Mrs A Cornwall
First and foremost it is with great sadness my notes have to
start with the reporting of the death of our Regimental
Secretary Lieutenant Colonel ARFNZ Twickel. Alex as he was
known to all his friends took over the roll of Regimental
Secretary in 1998, a larger than life character whose loyalty to
the regiment could not be questioned. He was very proud to be
the Regimental Secretary, a job he took very seriously working
hard for the benefit of all concerned. Not only will he be sadly
missed by all of us at HHQ but by everyone who knew him. Our
sympathy goes out to his family at this sad loss.
It has been a very busy year at HHQ, not only in our primary
roll in looking after past and present members of the regiment
but, in all the other aspects of the job concerning the OCA and
administration ofthe Regimental Charitable Association the lat-
ter being a very important part of HHQ responsibilities.
Looking after those members who have either fallen on hard
T‘ times or through no fault of
their own require help and
advice.
HHQ retains links with many
voluntary organisations such as
SSAFA/FH, TRBL and ABF
and with the help ofthese organ-
isations we are able to investi-
' gate cases of hardship and pro-
vide help wherever a genuine
need has arisen.

The help that can be given
1‘ can come in many forms
such as grants for wheel-
chairs/scooters, to conversion
of houses for the infirmed.
Quarterly Allowances are also
given to those who are in
genuine need in helping
with household bills so they
may have a decent standard
of living.
If any of you know of a past
member of the regiment
who has fallen on hard times
please let us know and we
shall try to help.
Our congratulations go to Mr and Mrs S Mamnani on the birth
of their first child, Dhruv, who weighed in at a healthy 71bs 2ozs.
Lastly we welcome Major General RV Searby as our new
Colonel of the Regiment and wish him every success in the
appointment.
And of course our appreciation goes to Brigadier HWK Pye for
the sterling work that he has carried out whilst serving as the
Colonel of the Regiment and President of the Charitable
Association and we wish him well for the future.
