GENERAL
We are indebted to the Army Benevolent Fund, the Royal
British Legion and other Service Charities for their continuing
support of our work. A particular word of thanks must go to the
many SSAFA caseworkers, who are all volunteers and who are
usually the first point of contact for our beneficiaries. Their
reports will eventually determine the extent of help we and
other Service charities should provide.

This office could not function without our own case officers
Majors Arkwright and Ayshford Sanford. They are available to
scrutinise recommendations for grants and also they will visit
and investigate cases when we feel this is necessary.
Our thanks must also go to all those retired officers who so gen-
erously contribute each year to the Association’s funds.
Finally, we must remember that a sizeable proportion of our
income comes from the Serving Regiment. Virtually every serv-
ing officer and soldier gives up voluntarily one day’s pay per
annum to the Association. We would not be able to respond to
requests for grants without this financial support.
