and give much needed support; they
write the excellent case reports on which
the Committee grants are based. As
usual, the Association has been assisted
during the year by various organisations
1 should like to record sincere thanks
to the Committees of several other Reg-
imental Associations and to the RAC
War Memorial Benevolent Fund; all of
them have co-operated generously in
making joint grants when appropriate.
We are grateful particularly to the Army
Benevolent Fund, the Fund’s freely
given aid has enabled large grants to be
given when needed.
The Association could not give assist-
ance on the present scale without the
large number of covenanted subscrip»
tions made by ex members of the Reg-
iment. I would like to thank all of them.
Finally, the Committee would like to
record it's thanks to the serving mem-
bers of the Regiment for the tremen-
dous support they give the Association
through subscriptions made under the

Regimental Museum
Since the issue of the 1985 Delhi
Spearman the following items have
been acquired by the Museum:
A. By Purchase
L 8 Original drawings by Colonel
Billy Tmman.
These were acquired at the auction
of the contents of Biddlesdon Park, the
home of the late Colonel Badger 12th
Lancers. Unfortunately a host of Mili-
taria dealers attended the sale. and
we were unable to compete with them
for other items of 12th Lancer interest,
including Colonel Badger‘s collection
of 12th Lancer Medals. Even his uni-
forms, riddled with moth. achieved
very high prices. The drawings are cari—
catures of 12th Lancers, both officers
and NCOa. including one of Captain
Charles Bryant who was Adjutant in
1914 and took part in the Charge at
Moy.
2. Drawing for 9th Lancer Drum
Banner of 182A
3. 2 Drawings of design for thh
Lancer lance cap plates circa 1830.
These two items (2 and 3) were purch-
ased from a dealer; they were part of
the records of Hawkes the Military
Tailors. No 2 is of particular interest as
it is the actual tailor‘s pattern.
3. lly Glft
1. Watercolour of a daimler armoured
car and the ‘Ypres Alphabet’ both by
Colonel Truman 12th Lancers, These
were presented by Mrs K Shuttleworth,
Colonel Truman‘s niece whose brother.
the late Major Dick Truman who also
served in the 12th Lancers.
2. 9th Lancer Standing Orders of
1924. Group Photographs and pro»
grammes of the 9th Lancers 1929. Pre-
sented by Major H Shaw MBE late 9th
Lancers.
3. 9th Lancer Journals 8 issues 1927‘
29. Presented by Major H Shaw MBE
late 9th Lancers. These are a unique
addition to the collection of Regimental
Journals previously held at Home Haid-
quarters. containing interesting accounts
of the history of the 9th Lancers in the
1914-18 War.
