THE 9’TH/l2TH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL
Sgt Williams and Cpl Lindskog with the LAD shower unit
Once again we have had a "bush year”
within the LAD. Turnover of personnel
has meant that all the "Old Faces" who
moved with the Regiment from Hohne
have been posted and replaced by a new
and enlightened work force.
We must say “Hello" and welcome to
our newe 0C LAD (EME). Capt Dun-
can and his wife Alison, and farewell to
Capt Williams now posted as 21C at l
Corps Tprs Wlts in Bielefeldl We wish
you both success in your new jobs.
In October this year we will have to
say a sad farewell to W01 (ASM) Lloyd
and his wife Lynn. Most of you will
know ASM Lloyd has been selected for
a commission in REME. not an easy
feat to achieve because competition
within the Corps is fierce I say a sad
farewell because. ASM Lloyd will be
sorely missed for all his expertise. not
only at his job. but also on the hockey
pitch when playing for the Regiment and
on the football pitch when playing for
the LAD. (We had better not mention
his squash it might embarrass him),
From all the LAD. ASM we wish you
success
As mentioned earlier the turnover of
personnel has been very high. too high
to mention everyone by name, suffice
to say “goodbye" to those who have
left and “hello" to all the newcomers,
enjoy your tour in Wolfenbuttel.
The training year for the LAD has
been quite hectic. the main headache
being to obtain sufficient major assem»
bles between exercises in preparation
I or the next.
Ex Silver Jubilee provided very val-
uable experience for the LAD in work-
ing far away from our Support organ-
isationi The lessons were well learnt and
helped Ex Rhine Farewell to go so
smoothly 12 months later. The LAD
patent shower is well used on exercises
and has now become a regular pas-
senger on the welders' shop trailer.
Parades on exercise have taken a turn
for the unusual. with the AQMS’s sense
of humour being tested to the limited.
Typical examples are. parading the rear
rank on top of the Machy Wagon,
everyone turning up in fancy dress or
parading a lump of wood dressed up in
combat jacket and tin hat. Where will
it end?
