THE 9TH/l2TH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL C Squadron Cpl Moulds. Who said the Cpl Admin Troop was not an important guy? C Squadron has enjoyed rather than endured it’s penultimate year in BAOR. As a result of Bismarckian diplomacy, involving Blood and Iran, with the for- mer and present Adjutants, C Squadron has suffered little turbulence in its manning, We were all sad to say good- bye to Captain Nigel Stafford, the Sec- ond in Command who became Regi- mental Signals Officer but were pleased to welcome Captain Nicholas Everard and his lady, Kiki, the Queen of the C Squadron ladies. Her public debut was an international event. taking place in the officers mess of the Cavallaggeri Si Lodi at Lenta in Novara. Italy where the Squadron were guests of the Arm- oured Reece Regiment of the Centauro Division. We welcome 2nd Lieutenant Joe Diamond who is 2nd Tp Leader and Sgt Henderson from ACIO Blackheath. Sgt Austin joins us from A Squadron and Sgt Maycock has departed on the early coach to Wimbish. Since writing the notes for the 1985 Journal, we have been joined by Troopers Sharman, Sal- loway, Tarplett, Aston. Parrott, Cox, Luff and Duff. We have had more than our fair share of promotions. We regard ourselves with appropriate humility “Primus inter Fares". Apart from exercising in Italy, as has now been mentioned. we have become International in a different way. Captain Fatah of the Egyptian Army joined us for three months. We hope that he en- joyed himself. Captain Stafford took part in Operation RALEIGH for four months; an arduous exercise, mentioned elsewhere in this Journall He clearly enjoyed himself and Lieutenant Wilson departed on a 4 month visit to the Aus- tralian Army. In his plaoe we welcomed Lieutenant Scott Kirkwood a Reservist who took part in all our exercises. The Squadron Leader took 12 days leave in Vienna in order to we the Spanish Riding School and Captain The Count de Salis, who had fortunately been recruited at Cambridge by Major General The Lord Monckton in 1968 (a good catch), was elevated to the dizzy heights of Squadron Leader. We learnt later that he too had enjoyed himself. It was lovely for all of us to see him again, specially for those to whom he gave his legal skills. Among the many events and exercises in which we have taken‘part are Exercise Grand Canyon in which, tragically, Corporal Martin Biela was killed when the Sdrnitar. which he was commanding, overturned (his Obituary appears else- where in the Journal), the Fourth Arm- oured Division’s FTX in which the Squadron was the only unit under com- mand of RHQ.
