Cpl Moulds. Who said the Cpl Admin Troop was not an important guy?
C Squadron has enjoyed rather than
endured it’s penultimate year in BAOR.
As a result of Bismarckian diplomacy,
involving Blood and Iran, with the for-
mer and present Adjutants, C Squadron
has suffered little turbulence in its
manning, We were all sad to say good-
bye to Captain Nigel Stafford, the Sec-
ond in Command who became Regi-
mental Signals Officer but were pleased
to welcome Captain Nicholas Everard
and his lady, Kiki, the Queen of the C
Squadron ladies. Her public debut was
an international event. taking place in
the officers mess of the Cavallaggeri
Si Lodi at Lenta in Novara. Italy where
the Squadron were guests of the Arm-
oured Reece Regiment of the Centauro
Division. We welcome 2nd Lieutenant
Joe Diamond who is 2nd Tp Leader and
Sgt Henderson from ACIO Blackheath.
Sgt Austin joins us from A Squadron
and Sgt Maycock has departed on the
early coach to Wimbish. Since writing
the notes for the 1985 Journal, we have
been joined by Troopers Sharman, Sal-
loway, Tarplett, Aston. Parrott, Cox,
Luff and Duff. We have had more than
our fair share of promotions. We regard
ourselves with appropriate humility
“Primus inter Fares".
Apart from exercising in Italy, as has
now been mentioned. we have become
International in a different way. Captain
Fatah of the Egyptian Army joined us
for three months. We hope that he en-
joyed himself. Captain Stafford took
part in Operation RALEIGH for four
months; an arduous exercise, mentioned
elsewhere in this Journall He clearly
enjoyed himself and Lieutenant Wilson
departed on a 4 month visit to the Aus-
tralian Army. In his plaoe we welcomed
Lieutenant Scott Kirkwood a Reservist
who took part in all our exercises. The
Squadron Leader took 12 days leave in
Vienna in order to we the Spanish Riding
School and Captain The Count de Salis,
who had fortunately been recruited at
Cambridge by Major General The Lord
Monckton in 1968 (a good catch), was
elevated to the dizzy heights of Squadron
Leader. We learnt later that he too had
enjoyed himself. It was lovely for all of
us to see him again, specially for those
to whom he gave his legal skills.
Among the many events and exercises
in which we have taken‘part are Exercise
Grand Canyon in which, tragically,
Corporal Martin Biela was killed when
the Sdrnitar. which he was commanding,
overturned (his Obituary appears else-
where in the Journal), the Fourth Arm-
oured Division’s FTX in which the
Squadron was the only unit under com-
mand of RHQ. Now that was hard work.
we were given every single task and still
managed to remain on speaking terms]

his radio skills and voice procedure);
The Bad Harzburg Races at which the
