THE 9TH/I2TH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL Old Comrades’ Association The enjoyable and well supported Mons/Moy visit to the Regiment in July 1985 was reported in last year’s Journal. It was soon followed by the annual Service at the 9th Lancer Memorial in Canterbury Cathedral. A lot of mem- bers came to the Service, many of them attending the lunch held at the County Hotel afterwards. In early September the association was invited to send representatives to a Service at Withcote. near Oakham, Leicestershire. The Service was held in the small but lovely old Church, now maintained by the Redundant Churches Fund. The purpose was to dedicate a Plaque erected to the memory of Tro- oper Norman Rohne Brown, killed in action with the 9th Lancers in Italy 1945‘ Norman was the only Withcote parish- ioner killed in World War II. The memorial project had been inspired and largely funded by a boyhood friend. Colonel Woodhead and a sprinkling of Old Comrades attended the Service at which many of Norman Brown‘s family and friends were present.
