THE 9TH/l2TH ROYAL LANCERS REGIMENTAL JOURNAL

The Regimental Band pursued an ex-
tensive and demanding Summer season
combining a variety of engagements.
followed by the preparation and build
up to the much anticipated Kneller Hall
inspection.
First we went to Kolding in Denmark
for the Town‘s celebration of the
Country‘s Liberation from the Germans
some 40 years ago. This included a live
transmission for National radio.
Then followed some more local en-
gagements including Mess functions,
cricket matches and numerous small
‘ towns to visit and play for.
The Band was well received at it’s
next venue —— Verden -— it was here that

we joined the Bands of the Royal Hus-
sars and the 1st and 2nd Tank Regiments
for the Town’s Freedom Parade, in the
presence of HRH Princess Anne.
Shortly after we were involved in
Shutzenfests at Bergen, Celle and Oster-
holz and a Charity concert in aid of the
disabled. in the Marktplatz, here in
Wolfenbflttel.
Then once more we were involved in
the preparations for Mons May We
would like to take this opportunity to
thank the drummers drawn voluntarily
from the Regiment, for all their hard
work; they are Cpl Reid, Cpl Harrison,
LCpl Iona. Tpr Trolley and Tpr James.
Thev did a marvellous job under the

ever watchful eye of Sgt Meldrum.
The Competition for the CU: Tmm~
peter saw history being made this year
with a ‘play-oft" for the award between
the two Morfill Brothers, Graham, the
eldest winning, One wonders if age and
strength of mind — and body, had any-
thing to do with this!
After Mons Moy. as is usually the
case. we went straight on to a further
round of engagements. Within a week
the Band were seen in Hannover, Celle,
Verden and Bad Harzhurgr To add to
the pressures. a different musical pro-
gramme was presented at each engagev
ment. The Bandmaster likes to keep us
on our toesl
