CHALLENGE CUP WON BY KILGUBBIN . The Beaufort Hunt Steeplechases on Saturday were decided in splendid weather on the prettily situated course at Alderton . With fairly strong fields , the sport was interesting throughout . Capt . R. L. McCreery experienced hard luck in not winning the 12th Lancers Challenge Cup , or after his mount , Eamon Mor , had taken the lead two fences from home the saddle slipped and the amateur rider was thrown . This mishap enabled Kilgubbin to score an easy victory from Tor Dhu . Details : 4.15 . - LADIES ' PLATE , a ' chase of 99 sovs , and 10 sovs to 2nd ; 3m . Ballyhalt of the en trants for this race who did not run , five had won point - to - point races , and , curiously enough , as their penalty showed , each of the placed horses in the race had won this season before . Capt . Mc Creery , riding his own horse , led off from the start and coming along the top near the dressing tent the first time round he had a comfortable lead . and was going beautifully . He led up to the wood and , coming round to take the water for the second time , led by many lengths , and only a fall could spoil his chance . His mount , however , jumped finely , and he won the race by a distance , he was not seriously challenged for second place . Tedworth Hunt .
