MARRIAGES . CAPTAIN DE PRET AND MISS GARLAND . At St. James'e , Spanish - place , yesterday , the marriage took place of Captain Jacques de Pret , 12th Royal Lancers , son of the late Comte de Pret Roose de Calesberg and Mrs. John Fowle , to Miss Betty Garland , eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Garland , of Moreton Morrell , Warwick . Father Reys officiated , and the bride was given away by her uncle , Captain Basil Williams . She wore a draped gown of ivory georgette embroidered with pearls and diamanté , the train being of the same material and hanging from the shoulders . Orange blossom fastened the tulle veil , and Miss Garland carried white orchids . The bridesmaids were the bride's two sisters , Miss Jean and Miss Anne Garland , her two cousins , Miss Aileen Emmet and Miss Ruth Williams , and Miss Helen Spencer and Miss Audrey Worthington . Their dresses of blue georgette had silver and pink leaf girdles , and they wore silver and pink wreaths in their hair and carried pink roses . A guard of honour was formed by N.C.O.'s and men of the 12th Lancers , and Lord Willoughby de Broke was best man . The reception was held at 41 , Upper Grosvenor - street , lent by the bride's aunt , Mrs. Robert Emmet .
