AT THE FIRST JUMP FOR THE GRAND MILITARY GOLD CUP : TWELVE HORSES TOOK THIS FLIGHT , BUT ONLY HALF OF THEM FINISHED . 20 The big event at the soldiers ' meeting at Sandown Park - the Grand Military Gold Cup - was this year won by the favourite . Mr. P. S. Akroyd's Dash O ' White , by the White Knight , started at 3 to 1 against and , ridden by Mr. McCreery , won from eleven rivals , of whom only five , besides the winner , finished . The chief prize on the last day , the £ 1,000 hurdle race for the Imperial Cup , fell to Mrs. G. Drummond by the aid of her Royal Falcon , ridden by T. Leader . A start was made with the annual summer tournament at the Alexandria Sporting Club on June 25th . The entry was not quite The so good as usual , only two teams coming from Cairo . Durham Light Infantry , who arrived in Egypt from England last autumn , put in three teams , an exceptionally fine thing for an infantry regiment to do . They have had sixteen regular players throughout the season , and are keeping up the notable polo traditions of the regiment . The following were the results of the match for the Halim Cup : First Round . 15th / 19th Hussars beat Alexandria ( received ) by 5 goals to 4 . 12th Lancers beat D.L.I. " B " ( received 34 ) by 7 goals to 4 . D.L.I. " A ' beat D.L.I. " C " ( received 31 ) by 10 goals to 31 . Second Round . 12th Lancers ( received ) beat 15th / 19th Hussars by 4 goals to 2 .
