In the Open Tent Pegging , the first prize went to the 12th Royal Lancers , and the second to the 13/18 Hussars . In the last competition , that of the « Handy Horse » , Trooper Wragg won the first prize with 11 points , Sgt . Rickard being second with 8 points and S.S.M. Haywood 3rd with 2 points . Lady Loraine had kindly con sented to present the prizes , each presentation being greeted with rounds of applause . . The band of the 12th Lancers played throughout the afternoon and during tea . They were parti cularly happy in their choice of which was perhaps the most pic turesque item on the programme . The Lancers in their full dress uni form made a very colourful picture , while the way they managed their horses during the intricacies of the Ride was simply wonderful . « Moy Day » sports , as the name suggests , are held to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Moy in which the 12th Lancers took a pri minent part . The actual date of the battle was August 28th , 1914 , but the sports were postponed to Nov- vember so as to assure cool weather conditions . The following sport ac count of the battle will doubtless be of interest : 25 22 26 Testing " Austin seven cars 1929 MAJOR - GENERAL J. HARMAN , C.B .. D.S.O. , AND BRIG . - GENERAL M. BLAKISTON - HOUSTON , D.S.O. 27 Helwich 1929 Lake Karun , Fayoum . The " Besitor's Cup " Seam . 29 POLO VISITORS CUP . The feature of this round was the very fast and exciting match between the 12th . Lancers and 10th . Hussars and the first appearance of the Welsh Guards in tournament polo in Cairo . They made a very goed fight against a stronger side . " A " In the semi - finals the 12th . Lancers " A " team had no difficulty in defeating the " Hy breds " ( rec . 2 1/2 ) by 11 goals to 4 1/2 and the " Diehards " , after a good galloping game , beat " K " Battery R.H.A. by 10 goals to 6 . The final , between the 12th . and the " Diehards " ( rec . 1/2 ) was played on the 22nd . inst . and resulted in a victory for the former team by 5 goals to 2 1/2 . The first and last chukkers of this match were played at a great pace , and during these chukkers there was little , if anything , to chose between the two teams . In the two middle chukkers , however , the " Diehards " fell away and their opponents were enabled to add the three goals that gave them the victory . The winning team consisted of Mr. G.J.
