A.S.C. SUMMER TOURNAMENT . With eight entries for this tournament the
teams have been divided into two divisions , the winners of " A " Division to carry off the Halim Cup . This arrangement enables the tournament to be played on American handicap lines with three games for each team .
D
Entries from Cairo were disappointing , neither the 10th nor the R.H.A. producing teams . The Mechanics , however , threw down their spanners and sent into the breach two teams , complete with sparking plug , while for Alexandria the Durhams did yeoman work with three teams and a spare man for the A.S.C.
The " Curates " .
The first day's play saw the Curates , fervently / . M.EB. Sparke

the ground . The Royals improved during the
last two periods , but could not make up their
arrears , although the final bell only prevented them from getting a goal by a second or two . Scores : XII Lancers Curates , 4 1/2 ; Royals , 3 . The other match in the " A " Division , be tween the D.L.I. " A " team and the A.S.C. , was a poor game . Alexandria could do little right , while the D.L.I.'s 3 was at the top of
his form . The D.L.I. , after giving their oppo nents a start of half a goal , ran out winners by
7 goals to 3 1/2 .
In the " B " Division a XII Lancers ' team
beat the D.L.I. " B " . The D.L.I. " B " struck
a bad day and the Lancers , conceding 2 1/2
goals , ran out winners by 8 goals to 2 1/2 . The D.L.I. Subalterns , however , receiving a 1 1/2 goals start from the Remnants ( a scratch team from Cairo ) , started off in great style , improv
ed their lead in the first period and were able
to hold off the counter attack of the Remnants
during the second half of the game . Result .

Royals ' Good Game .
The second day saw the Royals in different vein . Playing a much better game and conced ing half a goal to the D.L.I. " A " , they clinched the argument in the first period by scoring twice without reply . Thereafter the game was fairly even , with the Royals always slightly on top . In the second period both sides scored one goal , but in the third the Royals went further ahead . Scores : Royals , 4 ; D.L.I. 1 1/2 . The D.L.I. did not play their best game . Their 3 was not up
to his best form and their 2 looked to be roving
too much , a circumstance which the Royals ' 3 appreciated .
The Curates then met the A.S.C. The A.S.C. reorganised their team and played better ; the Curates , although exhorted with the same apos tolic fervour , responded with less effect . The result was a keen game , with the Curates , con ceding half a goal , generally on top . Alexandria opened the scoring but fell behind in the second period . A certain amount of " colliding " and " entanglement " of sticks did not detract from the general good humour and more or less can celled itself out . Scores : Curates , 4 ; A.S.C. , 1 1/2 .
In the " B " Division the D.L.I. " B " defeated
their subalterns in a keen game by 5 goals to
3 1/2 after conceding half a goal . The D.L.I. " B " were playing much better and the Subs . middle division let them go their own pace ,
with unhealthy results to themselves . The XIIth Lancers ' team had no difficulty in disposing of the Remnants , who received 1 1/2 , the final score being 6-1 1/2 .

ALEXANDRIA TOURNAMENT . The third and final day of the Alexandria Polo Tournament opened with the meeting of the D.L.I. " B " and the Remnants . The D.L.I. " B " , receiving 1 1/2 , opened a little shakily , but improved as the game progressed and can out winners by 5 1/2 to 4 .
The second game , between the Royals and the Allexandria Sporting Club , was mainly of interest to the D.L.I. " A " , the position being that , if the D.L.I. " A " could defeat the Curates , there would be a tie for first place and the Cup would be won by goal average . Receiving 1 1/2 goals , Alexandria could not keep out the Royals , who , better mounted , wore down all resistance and won by 8 goals to 2 1/2 .
The third match , between the D.L.I. " A " and the Curates , proved the best game of the day . Starting level , the D.L.I. " A " found their form again and scored two goals without reply in the first period . The Curates , in spite of the exhortations of the Apostle and the application of the thorn to horse - flesh , could not make up the arrears , although they went very near scor ing on several occasions without actually getting the ball between the posts . The Durhams ' 1 and 3 were in capital form , and a good game ended with the scores : D.L.I. " A " to win and the Royals collected the Halim Cup .
The last game , between the XIIth Lancers and the D.L.I. Subs , was rather one - sided . The Subalterns were outplayed , succumbing by 9 to 2 1/2 . The XIIth Lancers thus won Division . " B " of the tournament .
